The problem

Academic material at a teacher-education college is scattered: print on shelves, syllabuses on personal drives, theses bound once and rarely opened again. A student who cannot find a text is in the same position as a student for whom it does not exist.

The approach

One bilingual site carrying the whole collection — digital and physical, the college's own work and hosted material — with each item's rights stated on the item. Readers browse and search without an account; an account adds saved lists and offline reading.

What it does now

The platform is live at library.ptec.edu.kh and serves the college's collection publicly in Khmer and English. As of 31 July 2026 it publishes 114 digital resources, 7 active physical catalogue records and 4 learning paths — figures the site itself reports in its public llms.txt.

Key features

  • Five resource types in one catalogue
  • Search, subject and author browsing
  • Read in the browser, download when permitted
  • Curated learning paths

  • Next.js

Selected work

Real systems, in production, used in a teacher-education context. Each one has a full case study.

How the platforms fit together

Three products, one system

Each platform solves its own problem, and each one is more useful because the other two exist. Together they cover the teaching, the material and the infrastructure underneath both.

How the work happens

A classroom problem, followed all the way to a system

Most of these products started as something that did not work in a real classroom or a real library. This is the route from noticing that to shipping something that fixes it.

  1. Teaching practice

Tutoring, student teaching and school placements — where the problems are met first, as the person responsible for solving them that day.

  2. The problem, stated plainly

Teacher workflows that take too long, resources nobody can find, academic material with no consistent home. Written down before anything is designed.

  3. Research and product design

Who it is for, what they already do, and the smallest system that would help. Information architecture, workflows and interface design.

  4. Engineering

Building it: data model, permissions, authentication, storage and delivery. Bilingual from the first screen rather than translated afterwards.

  5. Accessible learning material

The output — platforms teachers and students can actually reach, and authored mathematics material that goes into them.
